Northwich Cheshire. Tel 01606 41331 Salt has been produced in Cheshire for over 2,000 years and it is the only place in Britain where it is still produced on a large scale. Our new Salt of the Earth gallery, which takes visitors on a walk through Cheshire’s past. There been a Salt Museum in Northwich for over 100 years.

Nantwich Cheshire. Tel 01270 629219 Welcome to one of the nations most secret defence sites. Green has played a central role in the defence of Britain for almost sixty years. In 1941 Hack Green was chosen to become RAF Hack Green, to protect the land between Birmingham and Liverpool from hostile attack.

Chester Cheshire. Tel 01244 343407 The actual Dewa Roman fortress is now buried under modern day Chester, but it lives on through the Dewa Roman Experience. Visit the Roman gallery to see exhibits of Roman Chester where you can handle pottery, try on suits of Roman armour, fire the catapult and design mosaics.

The archive displays documents as well as our extensive photographic collection.

Tel 01768 773626 At the Cumberland Pencil Museum Journey through the history of pencils and pencil making, with indepth information on graphite mining in Borrowdal, machinery displays, brass rubbings, artists workshops, video shows and the story of our world famous Derwent pencils.

Doncaster South Yorkshire. Tel 01302 761616 A treasure trove of aviation history most of which most is under cover, exhibitions from commercial light aircraft, Royal Observer corps, piston engine collection, jet engine collection, Sheffield blitz exhibition and the WWII home front exhibition. The Silk Museum houses exhibitions exploring the properties of silk, Paradise Mill demonstrates the intricate processes of weaving, The Heritage Centre tells the story of the silk industry.
