Tank Driving Experience Days: This is a fantastically enjoyable and utterly unique half day experience where you get get the chance to control a fully operational tank! Measuring 7m long and 3m high, the Chieftain really is a phenomenal piece of engineering and some serious war equipment! After this thrill, you can then get behind the wheel of another of the World's finest fighting machines ... the Abbott FV433 SPG. The fully operating swivel gun made this tank one of the most feared in wartime, and you won't find it hard to see why!

Next up is the FV432 Armoured personnel carrier - the most common variant since the 1960s where it was used to transporting infantry. As if this exhilarating experience wasn't quite enough to satisfy you, you get the added bonus of driving a tracked Stormer! It may be smaller, but it's still huge fun exploring in this mighty vehicle! Your knowledgeable instructor will assist you with all the driving techniques, so you'll be amazed at how far you come!Once you have arrived and been welcomed to the centre your day will begin with registration and a full safety briefing. You will have professional instruction throughout the experience as you drive the 700hp Chieftain Tank, Abbot SPG, Armoured Personnel Carrier and the tracked Stormer. There will be complimentary refreshments available and at the end of the experience you will receive a certificate of achievement to remember your day with.

There is a £15pp fee for Spectators to attend. This includes a 'Ride on a Tank' & complimentary tea and coffee. Children under 10 years are free.

This is generally a 5:1 participant to instructor ratio.

I thought I would stall it or embarrass myself but with the help of the staff managed to drive up the hill and reverse with no mishaps!! A great way to spend an afternoon - not just driving a tank but also an APC, a mobile gun and riding a quad bike! Very well organised with four groups rotating round the activities so not much hanging around, and tea and cake were included....

The best fun I've had in ages. Admittedly, the weather was good so the driving conditions were relatively pleasant, but I would recommend this to anyone who wants to try a different sort of track day and doesn't mind a bit of mud!

Staff were nice, facility was alright. Down side was that you could only drive the tank forwards and backwards on a straight track, no turning was allowed. The other vehicles you got to drive were around a track though, so turning was fine!

The only thing was the signage to get there could have been a bit clearer. The sign was very small and on the other side of the dual carriageway - we kept missing it. Otherwise excellent.

Is there a maximum height for the Tank Driving Experience, in Hampshire?

Although there is no set restriction, leg room can be an issue for taller participants, and those over 6' may experience some discomfort. You are, however, welcome to give it a go on the day and try another vehicle if your height proves to be a problem.

Is 6'3" too tall for the Experience Tank Driving - Hampshire?

The only issue may be with the Chieftain. If you are too tall then you will get to another go in one of the other vehicles in the Experience Tank Driving - Hampshire.

Do you need a driving license to participate?

No, you do not need a license. Please specify upon booking whether or not you hold a full driving license.

I am interested in this tank driving experience for my son and his wife. I am wondering if it's possible for my daughter-in-law to get on board as an observer rather than a driver?

Spectators are welcome to ride in the tank with the participant driving. There is a £10pp fee for spectators to attend. This includes a 'Ride on a Tank' & complimentary tea and coffee. The fee is payable directly to the experience provider upon booking. 

Do you need a full UK Driving License in order to participate in this tank driving experience as a driver? 

You will not need a license for this experience. Requirements are as follows:

Am I able to purchase a voucher and book a date prior to the season starting in March? 

Yes, bookings are able to be made prior to opening in March for the Tank Driving Experience in Hampshire. Dates will usually be released at the start of the new year, and we always recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment.
