The perfect day out for two wine lovers, this vineyard tour and wine-tasting allows you to get inside the wine-making process from vine to bottle. You will tour the vineyard and see the grapes growing, before entering the winery to see how the fruit is processed before finally being bottled. The tour is followed by a wine-tasting. What could be more fascinating than sampling wine produced from the very earth on which you stand? Experts will tutor you on what to look for when drinking wine and explain how growing conditions affect the bouquet and finish of the product. You will also receive a delicious lunch - with a glass of wine, of course!

Sipping in the sun
05 September 2023
We were gifted the tour which included a light lunch by my son last Christmas. We were lucky with the weather and sat out to taste our first glass of delicious Carr Taylor English wine, which was delicious. The your began St 1pm with the erudite David in charge. There were about 18 people and 1 dog on the tour. We saw the vines and learnt some history about wine growing in England. A tour of the yard and where the wine was made ended with a sit down tasting experience. David was very entertaining and informative, and generous with the 5 wines and sparkling wines we tasted. All were delicious, all different, and it was really enjoyable. Lunch was then served downstairs, a buffet style selection of cheeses, pork pies, bread and salad.my husband doesn't eat cheese and we had been told an alternative would be made available. It wasn't, but it wasn't a huge issue.the staff were very apologetic about it as obviously the message hadn't been passed on. We ate our lunch in the sunshine surrounded by the vines in all their glory. Loved the whole experience and plan to do it again!

Disappointed
08 July 2023
The actual tour of the vineyard and winery was very good as well as the tasting session, but the meal was very disappointing. We had to share a tablespoon of coleslaw, a teaspoon of chutney and a dribble of salad dressing between 4 people. The salad itself was fresh but very frugal. It seemed very mean.

Very enjoyable day. Guide was knowledgeable and interesting about history of vineyard. Wine making process fully explained for the different grapes produced. Wine tastings after tour and good ploughman’s lunch in cafe/restaurant which has great views over the Teign estuary. Would recommend and will certainly go back for coffee/lunch as we don’t live too far away.

What a let down.
28 June 2019
Went to learn about wine but had two hours about roman history. No wine in production just an empty vat and press. Lunch was a bowl of shredded salad and a slab of cold pie plus a few potatoes. Not even a cup of tea etc with lunch. Many others felt let down by the fiasco.

Thoroughly recommend this experience

This was a Christmas present from my Grandson and his girlfriend to myself and my daughter. If you enjoy drinking wine then this is the experience for you. We walked to the vineyard and the process of vine growing was well explained then back to the barn where the wine is bottled then into the cafe for a tasting of four very good wines. The meal was good quality and delicious and we bought a bottle of Chilford Hall wine to wash it down with.

The first of the autumn wine
16 October 2018
A vineyard, improbably on a north-west facing slope near Holmfirth, and with an improbable history but a successful one. Our visit was on a glorious September day. Phoning to book had been impossible, but a personal visit to do so was to experience the charm and courtesy of the young staff. The tour itself was conducted by a knowledgeable young man, able to gauge the range of visitors' engagement. The three wines we tasted were interesting and enjoyable. The subsequent meal was of high quality, the service efficient and leisurely. The setting and the pleasant efficiency of the young staff were pleasingly memorable.
