Good size afternoon tea in pleasant surroundings

Very polite staff. Afternoon tea was of a good size to make a very nice show. Selection of sandwiches, plus 4 different pieces of cake and a scone with cream and jam. As much tea or coffee as you wanted. Very enjoyable.

Took my friend as a treat for her birthday and we had a lovely afternoon tea with sandwiches and cakes , staff were lovely and helpful , venue was lovely and good was amazing , would definitely recommend and return again , thank you

Afternoon tea at the Red Lion was pleasant, if a little rushed. We went at the earliest available time, around 2pm I believe. At this time there were still some tables full of lunchtime diners and there didn't seem to be enough staff to deal with everyone's needs. However, I would go again and the meals there looked good too.

This is second visit for afternoon tea at the Red Lion Colchester.
The very old building is most impressive from the inside, the afternoon tea was very good and served by attentive and friendly staff.

Lovely afternoon tea at the Red Lion. Staff very attentive and friendly. We had some dietary requirements which were checked on arrival so we had appropriate sandwiches. Cakes and scones were fresh and tasty. It's a bit dark in the dining area but the building is very old with lots of character.
