Children's Sushi Masterclass at Inamo 10776332

This session would have been good if some people hadn’t turned up 20 minutes late! The class had started so the chef had to stop and bring the very young new children up to speed. Although two sushi were eventually made the class itself was not well organised for the age group. There was a lot of waiting around whilst the chef individually gave out content. Would not recommend this course for any child over 8 years old.

The class started late, so didn’t last an hour. The person showing how to make the sushi didn’t engage with the kids at all. There was no certificate given at the end, no tea offered to the parents. The whole experience took place in a small, dingy room in the basement of the restaurant (nothing like the photos on the buy a gift website!). Completely underwhelming experience. I have only given it 3 stars as the kids made a lot of sushi which they got to take home.

Booking made months in advance for a 11am-12 experience. Upon arrival at 10.50 we were told the chef wasn't ready and would only be at 11.45. We had lunch booked elsewhere for mothers day and couldn't rearrange this for later as was full. Arrived back in the delayed start time and commenced the session. The sushi making itself was ok and the people attending it seemed happy enough during it. It then continued to go wrong. When time to present the certificates at the end, they had the wrong list of names and ended up asking "who are you?" and "whoops, we have the wrong days list I think. Oh well." When we asked to take the sushi they had just made, there were no containers to take them away. Offered for us to take them upstairs to eat but there was no space in the restaurant to do so, so we had to leave them there. All in all, it has ruined what could have been a great day out on multiple failings. I have an upset wife as we had to cancel her mothers day lunch, an upset child who couldn't eat the sushi they had just made and been looking forward to for ages. The bookings were not a surprise and we even got another confirmation of the timing the day before.

A supposed 1 hour long 'masterclass' (it started 20 mins late and did not make up for this time afterwards.) It was nothing more than a 30min, roll/assemble two pieces of Maki using pre prepped ingredients. Followed by 10 mins of certificate writing/waiting for others to finish. Everything was done in advance - so didn't learn to cook/prep anything. Dreadful presenting/engagement skills with kids. Certificate at end said 'Nigiri Ninja', no Nigiri in sight which is a shame as that might actually have been an interesting lesson.

Excellent experience

I was on a mission to find a days trip out with my children to do something new when I found this experience. My three children aged 7, 9 & 11 LOVE sushi and enjoy cooking and making things at home so this was the perfect (different) treat for them. I am so happy that I booked this! The man who taught the children the basics to sushi preparation was fun and energetic, the ingredients provided were restaurant quality, as were the tools that the children used and the technique that was taught was easy to master. My 7 year old needed my help with a sticky rice situation! But the other two just needed prompting to remember what they had to do next. After the first two rolls they were masters and had perfected their skills enough to make a shop brought quality roll. All sushi made was cut to be eaten or taken home and condiments, cutlery and water were provided for the children & parents. We were never offered a hot drink as stated by the voucher but we were hands on so couldn’t manage a drink until all the sushi preparation had been finished. I would definitely recommend this experience to you! My children loved it and would love to go again and I’m sure yours will too! Now I’ve been asked to get a roll mat and sushi rice to make sushi at home. Wish me luck!

My daughter loved this day- opportunity to learn something new and eat afterwards. Great price and value. The timing was perfect to get a feel for the activity and well pitched for a child/young person. Staff very pleasant and loved the fact that they made sure all the children were aware of hygiene by instructing them to wash their hands. Very professionally run.

Well organised and really fun. Absolutely worth the money.

Bought as a Christmas gift for my son. He thoroughly enjoyed the experience and eating the food he had made after. Staff friendly and general manager very welcoming.
