We arrived as planned and we were greeted, shown to our table by a pleasant young waiter. After a brief explanation of the next step he returned several minutes later with our Tea for two experience. Everything was fresh and extremely tasty. Could not eat all of it and a takeaway box was provided if required. A most satisfying experience in pleasant surroundings. Well done the Mercure hotel

We were not impressed with our afternoon tea. The sandwiches were tiny, bread was very dry, very little filling. The beef was practically raw, we had to leave them.
We spoke to the Restaurant Manager who has offered to rectify the matter
However, looking at the picture above the quality and quantity of our afternoon tea was nothing like your picture.
Very disappointed. Unfortunately we didn't take photos as I am sure you would have been appalled to see the low standard of the sandwiches and the raw beef.

An afternoon delight but room for improvement

Cakes and scones were absolutely delightful but sandwiches quite basic. Suggestions for improvements - have a tea/coffee menu, add some hot savoury snacks eg quiche or sliders, use of different breads for the sandwiches - eg baguette, sourdough, seeded - and deeper filling.

Very nice venue and friendly staff. Afternoon tea average, sandwiches quite poor and boring. Cake variety ok, scones better. Wouldn’t go again.
